R1 Pre-Owned. Shipping not specified. You have to load the software, close down, and connect the WPN before rebooting. I used to be plagued with the dreaded blue screen from time to time with the original software, but the latest version from the Netgear site seems to have resolved that too.

Not sure if this helps, but I have found the WPN terrific. Here in Norwich UK we have free wi-fi, and I can connect to transmitters miles away without any trouble at all. Wednesday, August 30, PM. Sorry, hadn't spotted that this was a Vista Forum. Directed here by Google, and didn't check! Hope this helps! Wednesday, September 27, PM. Scott 0. James, I upgraded to ultimate and did the steps you describe and when I right click on the device to update the drivers, windows cannot read the drivers under any scenario.

The install screen only allowed unsecured installation. This caused some confusion and created two copies of my network in the scan more on that below.

The Netgear SmartWizard first showed up minimized with the green radio icon on the taskbar, then just the red icon on the corner toolbar. When clicking on the icon, "invalid filename" flashed twice before the SmartWizard would open. Site scan didn't detect the network. Selected VirtualProfile, input the SSID, and "connect anyway" which prompted another "invalid filename" and "failed to connect" messages but it connected.

Now each time the PC is rebooted, the same procedure has to be repeated to manually connect. But once it's up, the WPN seems to stay connected fine with good range. Another thing was that switching the USB port from where the WPN was first installed seemed to mess up both the reinstallation and Vista a peek in the registry confirmed that uninstall still left intact some WPNspecific values , such that at one time the PC beeped and wouldn't boot with the WPN plugged in.

Had to restore to the point before, which may be the cause for the "invalid filename" message. Monday, May 12, PM. I have 2 WPN adaptors. I can install either unit on a Windows XP machine and it will work flawlessly. Whichever adaptor I install on Vista will fail the same way. The unit will connect to the router, get an IP address and appear to work fine for a short time.

The unit will NOT utilize the Mbs capability. A command prompt window flashes on and off on the screen but it goes away too fast for me to see what is says. WPN doesn't work with Windows Has anyone managed to get the WPN to work under Windows 10?
